The TPS568215RNNR from Texas Instruments is a highly efficient, monolithic 8-ampere (A) synchronous buck converter featuring an adaptive on-time D-CAP3™ control
mode. This device is designed for space-conscious power systems, integrating low R DS(on) power MOSFETs to enable high efficiency with a minimal external component
count. It operates over an input voltage range of 4.5V to 17V and is capable of delivering up to 8A of output current.
The TPS568215RNNR stands out for its small form factor, integrating 19-mΩ and 9.4-mΩ MOSFETs, and offering a selectable switching frequency (F SW) of 400 kHz,
800 kHz, and 1.2 MHz. It includes adjustable current limit settings with hiccup re-start, a 0.6-V ±1% reference voltage across the full temperature range, and supports
an optional external 5-V bias for enhanced efficiency. This converter is designed to work within an operating junction temperature range of –40°C to 150°C and is
available in a thermally enhanced 18-pin HotRod™ QFN package. It is pin-to-pin compatible with the TPS56C215, allowing users to choose solutions from 6A to 12A
within the same footprint.
TPS568215RNNR Features:
1. Integrated low R DS(on) power MOSFETs for high efficiency.
2. D-CAP3™ control mode for fast transient response.
3. Auto-skip mode operation for light load efficiency.
4. Adjustable current limit without the need for external compensation.
5. Forced continuous conduction mode (FCCM) for tight output voltage ripple.
6. Supports all ceramic capacitors and monotonic start-up into pre-biased outputs.
7. Adjustable soft start with a default 1-ms soft-start time.
TPS568215RNNR Applications:
The TPS568215RNNR is suitable for a variety of applications where efficient power conversion is required in a compact form factor. It is particularly useful in applications
such as:
· Portable electronics and battery-powered devices.
· Industrial and automotive systems requiring efficient power management.
· Computing and communication equipment where space is at a premium.
